At Fashion's Night Out INDIA

Fashion's Night Out India was held at Emporio Mall in New Delhi on Friday, the 10th. I went with my friends and fellow bloggers Naina, Malavika and Alexis. It was much better than expected and we had fun!

Wearing: Stylein Reseda leather vest, Forever New grey zipper top, Mash NY liquorice leggings, Boyy SYD bag and Report Signature Edson Multi heels.

The shoe shot. Left to right: Naina's brown oxfords from C & K, my Report Signature Edsons (favorite new shoes, more coming on these soon) and Alexis' C & K black pumps.

At Dior, fingering through one of their books. There were pictures from Galliano's experiments with big eyes. Nostalgia.

Alexis wearing a AL & Alicia Rayon Twill blazer in wind chime, Alexa (ha ha Alexa, Alexis. << God, I'm weird) pocket silk blouse in gray fog, GAP black skinnies, Charles and Keith black pumps.

Naina wore her mom's white oversize shirt, grey skinnies, Charles and Keith chocolate brown Oxfords and my Boyy Sylvester bag.

Mali experimenting with Versace.

She's wearing: ASOS jeggings, Carlton London cutout ankle boots, ASOS batwing graphic shirt, thrifted hipster glasses (not wearing here, these are Versace), vintage Indian necklace.

She's cultivating her artsy photographer image. Isn't that necklace the coolest? So eclectic.

Some douche who thinks he's the "King of Goth".

At Gaurav Gupta. Absolute favorite of all Indian designers showcasing. He has the most incredible stuff.

Talking with Gaurav. Such a shame I didn't go for his Couture Week show.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The clothes were not to be believed. Indian but with western silhouettes. Suspended over a  a little fountain, it was magical. All tulle and sequins and crystal bibs.

I THINK this is Varun Sardana (at Ensemble) but I'm not positive so don't quote me on it.

All pictures by Malavika Bhatia and Alexis J.

I got FNO India shirt by Manish Arora and it was, in my opinion, one of the best. Better than New York or London (seriously, what was that?) or Milan. It's done in his usual flamboyant style, heavy on the bright colors and eastern references. Seriously, I'll post it up asap and you can see for yourself. There were two FNO India shirts, actually. The other one being designed by Rajesh Pratap Singh. I only chose the MA because it looked more quintessentially Indian, y'know?

I got to finger the Burberry thigh highs I've been lusting after for months and try on Manish Malhotra for MAC lipstick (I didn't even know of this collaboration. Shame on me). I'm not very savvy with Indian designers and so I decided to forgo the first two floors, brimming with Armani (they were playing "Baby" by Justin Bieber in there. I puked on one of the $1000 tuxes. I kid, I kid) and Kenzo (obsessed) and checked out the top two floors that housed a ton of cool Indian designers I hadn't really paid attention to. There was Gaurav Gupta and Manish Arora of course, also Malini Ramani (who happens to be extremely nice, as well!), Varun Sardana, Prashant Verma , Suneet Verma (who put designed a super long sari for FNO exclusively that 25 people 10 hours a day for 3 months to make and it's done in lightweight georgette with other fabrics appliquéd on it; tie die velvet, chiffon, satin). There was the occasional celebrity sighting here and there and a couple of interestingly dressed people.

Oh, say hi to my friend Elin, the designer at Stylein! I'm wearing their jacket here and see my shout out here.

Update on the shirt coming soon!

Gaurav Gupta is super duper adporable! Specially with that cute 'stache! :[D
And Sardana's work has always been amazing.

They don't have FNO in Singapore. Why, is beyond me.

Whoa, they have FNO everywhere, eh?

The pictures look great - as always. I'm glad you're starting to keep in touch with your local designers. I too started out just looking at NY or Paris designers but there's so much talent close to home (Toronto, if you're wondering).

Keep up the blogging, dear.

LOL at the 'douche who thinks he is the king of goth'!

Love your hair, your bags.

One complain: No matter how many times I refresh, reload, it never happens that all the photos on your blog load. Like, there's always a couple that don't. Not the same ones. You might probably want to reduce the number of posts you can show on the main page so that readers don't have to try so hard! I don't know if others get the same problem or not or if they're too tired to retry! Just FYI hon.

Oh and, shiny pants, FUCK YEAH! Yeah.

Wow, what an enlightening blog. I never really considered India as a fashion captial, mostly because one never hears much from it in the U.S. I loved this insight and will be back for sure.
