Believe me, I'm lying

I have been THE worst blogger. A crime of epic proportions. I haven't been posting but I have a perfectly legit reason. My camera broke. True. Story. And what is a blogger sans a camera?

1986 is an emerging Indian-based label just starting out, armed with a shitload of fabulous clothing and accessories. I'm interning and helping with tweets, etc. International shipping is going to be opening up soon with the website. For now, you can check out their blog or the facebook page to stay updated!

(Wearing: Tutu skirt by Tt Collection, sheer tank with black detailing by 1986, United Nude Block Neon green heels, 1986 braided metallic necklace worn as bracelet/headband)

I'm a through and through skirt person and have a ton of them but have a record of never, ever finding the right top to go with it. With this cage effect BEAUTY, I can wear any one of my hundred assorted black skirts and not look like a mismatched idiot :D

I wear this necklace as a bracelet (as worn here), a hairband and once, I even deigned to wear it on my ankle :O It's extremely versatile and ends up looking good with almost everything.

The shoes are thanks to United Nude and are the coolest friggin things I've ever owned. True story. It's legen *waitforit* DARY. When I got this skirt from Tt Collection, well, first I started screaming "SATCCCCCC" embarrassingly loudly and then proceeded to stroke it and talk to it. Yeah. I'm one of them cool kids. For me, tutus will ALWAYS be Carrie Bradshaw.
(PS- SATC 2 coming out soon, you guysssss

I'm going to be posting about some other seriously sick stuff from 1986 so you guys had better get your asses back here, ya hear?

Over and out folks (YEAH I SAID "OVER AND OUT", bitches)

I've got dreams to remember.

So, funny story. My camera broke. And hence, everything's been put on hold. And I don't have a scanner because my dad threw it out. Nothing. I have nothing. So I'm going on a hiatus until it gets fixed. I'm really pissed off right now so I don't even know how long it'll take. 4 days? 5 days? Not a clue. I guess I'll catch up on commenting by then.

Anyway, the winner of the Orient USA Watch is... *drum roll*...  Milly of Mlle! I'll be emailing you shortly :)

I and Love and You

If you're a regular reader here, you've read through copious amounts of posts of me waxing eloquent about how I have exams. Since the past 3 months. 3 months' worth of posts starting with the same sign off. Kind of exhausting, right? Well, I have some news.

THEY'RE OVER. OH YEAH, YOU HEARD ME. I SHOULD PROBABLY STOP TALKING LIKE THIS NOW.

Does that not make you want to run out and do a jig? Hell yes, a jig.

So, anyhow being a blogger and a fervent writer for various other publications, lugging my laptop around constantly is a must. But how do you show up at a fashion show or at a designer's studio with the ugly black hideosities Mac/Dell provide you with? So anyway, onto awesome-r things. A few weeks back, the folks at J'Tote sent me their "Colette" laptop bag! *happy jig* YEAH-HUH, I JUST SAID JIG. Now, mostly, I just stash my laptop into the hideous bag Dell provided with it (sorry you guys, I still love you) or into a giant tote but this, this taupe beauty is just fabulous. It looks like a chic oversize clutch but surprise, surprise, there's a detachable strap at the back for easy lugging around. It's perfect, really, because I am forever holding onto my trusty Dell and/or Macbook awkwardly and getting snide glances from randoms. So now I'm like- HA HA SUCKERS, look who has the shizziest laptop bag of them all! Hang onto your ickyass Apple slings while I cruise around being awesome! I'm actually seriously contemplating buying the Meredith, though because I need one for each. You guys should seriously check it out. Maybe you'll end up being as badass as I clearly am now, armed with this little beauty.

J'Tote specializes in gorgeous designer laptop bags. You can go check more out about them and maybe buy yourself a Colette here!

On another note, I've been reading House of Versace by Deborah Ball because my dad is awesome and got me a truckload of fashion books for my exams ending. It's fantastic. I'm only through with about 4 chapters so far but my two greatest loves; history and fashion, combined in one book about a label that I respect so much (under Gianni Versace i.e.) sums up to perfection. The book tells the story of the man who, from his humble beginnings in Reggio, South Italy went on to become one of the most venerated, iconoclastic, powerful forces in fashion history. It has portions dedicated to his mysterious murder, his love/hate relationship with siblings Donatella and Santo, his rash decision to bequeath his entire empire to his 11 year old "principessa" Allegra, his endless VIP fans (Princess Diana, Elton John) and the tedious list of women he made celebrities overnight (Liz Hurley-remember the safety pin dress?, Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruno, Christy Turlington, et all) and, of course, his fierce rivalry with Giorgio Armani.

I urge anyone who's interesting in finally unveiling the shroud of mystery settled on one of fashion's most respected families.

I'm going to close off with this quote:

"Armani may have dressed the wife but Versace, he dressed the mistress."

I have some great things lined up for FabBlab! Going to catch up on some more reading now!

I Love Liberty

Alright, so this would be my first post after about 10 months. I haven't posted anything because of the wretched exams that had taken over my life. You've heard a lot about them courtesy Arushi. But guess what? THEY'RE O-V-E-R! That's right. They. Are. Over. I think I might say that ten times over just for the sake of it.

Or not.

Anyhoo, some friends of mine and Arushi's had gone out to the mall to celebrate, because in our world there is no better way to taste freedom than blowing up a whole bunch of money on pretty clothes. While we were going through the many racks in Promod, we realized that there is nothing to wear during the summers. Because, here in India, summers is equal to the time when all we want to do is sit in an air conditioned room, wearing nothing but a tank top and slouchy shorts. That is only two pieces of clothing. Layering isn't even an option. Which is probably why everyone is always begging for winters. Or even monsoons. We can't even wear a thin jacket or a scarf. And no, I am not exaggerating. But despite owning a good five pair of shorts, I still want these:

See by Chloe Bow Bloomer Shorts

And these:
DSQUARED2 Two Band Suede Sandals

Aldo has something with similar level of brightness:

This is what I wore while we were out shopping.

Shirt: Dad's, Bag: Charles and Keith, Jeans: Forever New, Heels: Vansons

Also, a friend of mine got these great platforms from MANGO, which I shall soon borrow permanently and then post pictures for you guys.

xx,
Naina

PS: THE EXAMS ARE OVER! DO A VICTORY DANCE WITH ME!
