Wills India Fashion Week 2010, New Delhi

This was the first time I was present at the FCDI venue practically from the beginning to the end.
For those in need of a clue about the Indian Fashion Week system: Unlike most places in the world, we have an assorted number of Fashion Weeks. It highly complicates things but that's a story (rant) for another time.
FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) handles the Wills India Fashion Week held in Delhi while IMG handles the Lakme Fashion Week that takes place in Bombay. We also have the Van Heusen Men's Fashion Week, HDIL Couture Week (I know) and others such as Calcutta Fashion Week, etc. It's complicated and I'm sure even most of the editors don't know what's going on half the time. Anyhow, WIFW and LFW are the main events and this time, I was covering the shows for Stylekandy, an Indian fashion and lifestyle website.

This is what I wore on my first day, Sunday. I couldn't go on Saturday which was officially day 1. I wore this Tt Collection dress, Pelle Moda Kenda suede booties via Beso and this Boyy Slash bag.
Alexis is wearing my Litas here.

Also, major thanks to Kathryn of The Budget Fashionista for featuring me in their "We Like Her Style" feature here. TBF is amazing as you all very well know, check it out, check my piece out, let me know what you think!

More pictures to come soon! xx

Costume Department SS11' sneak peak

Hey you guys! Sorry for the lackadaisical commenting and no new posts but I've just not got the time for an outfit post right now. Anyhow, I've been slightly obsessed with Costume Department's new collection. Here
a sneak peak of the gorgeous collection. It's all sheers and bright colors and cropped silhouettes.

This season, CD has a new designer. I can't name any names but he's styled Lady Gaga before and his credibility as a designer are a perfect fit for CD's young, flirty, downtown chic aesthetic. If you check out some of the pictures below, it's abundantly clear that a ton of the pieces are unisex. Androgyny being the keyword here, the textures range from mesh to silk linen, pointing towards eccentric luxe.

Anyone else notice how the model looks like a younger version of Aggy Deyn?

You can buy CD pieces over at ASOS, Restir, Barney's Japan, Revolve Clothing, Nasty Gal, Karmaloop, Otte, Traffic and a ton others (see their stocklist on the website for more info). You can also check out the official website here.

And don't worry, I'm going to be wearing a lot of their stuff pretty soon so keep watching this space for that.

$100 Beso shopping spree giveaway for practically anything!

If you've stuck around long enough or are new and have happened to read my bio or project page you're well aware that I freelance as a fashion writer in addition to blogging and being all round awesome. Consequently, I'm frequently required to research various pieces falling under particular trends, fabulous finds when on a budget, etc. It's depressingly tedious to go through Google from Page 1 to 15 searching for every pair of distressed leather bags available to attempt to find the perfect pair, so I turn to my most trusted source, Beso. I'm also a girl who loves her clothes, bags, accessories and shoes (shock) so when looking for say, a pale pink shell necklace, it's always helpful if someone can filter down your search to only the chicest websites in your price range and designer/size choice. Beso carefully streamlines your searches and selections and gives you a thorough range of all the products under your selected search category. It also effectively lets you narrow down to your choice of designer, price range, clothing type and/or size. Um, perfection? You know it.

So, anyway, why am I waxing eloquent about Beso without really telling you anything about the giveaway or how I discovered this little gem of fabulosity? Behold:
I have a bunch of shoes. But, you know you can never have "enough" shoes, despite what your mom may try to tell you. I have paint splattered mega platforms, distressed leather monster ankle boots and even bright neon green block heels but tragically, and quite embarrassingly, even, I don't have a pair of perfect, Fall appropriate basic black booties *pause for cryptic, shell shocked silence*. It's just one of those things. Like chocolate brown lace up boots (Ooh, I actually managed to find a pair of those too! More on that soon) or the perfect buttery leather prep chic satchel; I just couldn't find the right one. So I looked, and I searched and hunted, far and wide. Over the mountains and below the boroughs. Okay, I'll stop. Anyway, I really tried but some were too plain, some were too low, blah, blah. Maybe I was too lazy to really research plain black ankle boots, but what are you gonna do? I can't recall exactly how I found Beso, but I THINK I was attempting to find Forever 21 sweaters or like, Michael Kors flats (I have no flats. None. Excpet for boots)? Fall's essential, chunky knits, yes. So I stumbled across this little webbie and found these gorgeous Pelle Moda Kenda Suede booties on the main page. You can see these in my sidebar as well. They're perfect for fall, because after getting my Litas (see here), I wanted a pair of snuggly suede shoes. Also, they have a considerable platform and sky high heel, just the way I like it.

Okay, enough with the ranting! How can YOU guys win $100 to splurge on anything from any of the stores on Beso? Their fabulous team and I have paired up to give it away to one lucky winner. Here's what you gotta do:
-  This giveaway is only for friends! Please follow FabBlab via Bloglovin or Google Follow.
- Go to the Beso website and pick out any piece you think is perfect for Fall. You can even tell me
why if you'd like! Add the Beso link to your comment. (Note: It HAS to be the Beso link. Not say,
Shopbop or the site you get directed to purchase it).
- Fan Beso on Facebook here.

Optional, additional entries:
- Follow me on Twitter and tweet the giveaway.
- Follow me on Facebook and status the giveaway.

The winner will be picked 4 days from now via random.org. This giveaway is part of the three giveaways I will be hosting as part of my 400 follower hit count this month!
This giveaway is open to everyone. Good luck, everyone!

xxx

PS- If anyone knows of/is a designer who also blogs (as part of their e-commerce website, even) please put it in your comment/tweet me/email me. Example: Wendy Brandes. It's part of a project for a very exciting publication that involves a lot of celebrity editors. More briefing via email (arushikhosla@gmail.com/fabblab@gmail.com).

Wearing: Plastic Island Le Flash sequined dull gold skirt, Jesica Milton lace back shirt, Forever 21 necklace, JC Litas,  Topshop leather vest.

School is officially out for 2 weeks thanks to the Commonwealth Games. Yesterday, I went with a few friends to this batch party thing and this morning, I went to meet with a friend of a friend who's in town from Paris. It was so much fun and I wish I could've gotten some shots of the two of us but I couldn't take my camera with me so I just took some shots of what I wore beforehand.
Oh, well. I just repeated the skirt from the night before and changed the clingy black top and layered necklace to this lace back Jesica Milton shirt and a leather vest.

You can't see the lace on the back of this shirt here but its very cute. It's a little reminiscent of the fading summer. Not that I'm going to miss the heat much, these past few weeks of incessant rain may have been a hazard but the weather's been gorgeous. I love how this shirt is a little loose but also short so it can be worn casually without it looking overly slouchy, y'know? A little androgyny but also feminine with the lace and detailing around the middle.

I picked this Topshop vest up this summer while I was in Singapore. It's one of my favorite pieces and has finally got that slightly worn in quality that I love in all my leathers.

My JC Litas finally came! And they are every bit as perfect as they looked online. I swear to you, I have never gotten as many appreciative glances as I did when I wore these. The distressed leather creeps slightly above your ankle but because of the super chunky platform, it doesn't even particularly make you look stumpy. Or that's what my interpretation is anyway. I snagged them off Solestruck (I pre ordered them in the second delivery) and they reached totally on time. Kind of obsessed with the site now. It's really hard to find websites that have non-ridiculous international shipping costs so the ones that I do discover, are keepers.

Check out these gorgeous illustrations the super talented Vic made me! Check out her blog. She's a design student at Kingston University in London (so jealous!).

From this post.

Plus, I've added some more press clips to my "press" page in the tabs above and thanks to everyone who reminded me about my mention in the Sunday Guardian! Take a peek!
