Wearing: Oh My Frock leopard print jacket, Blank NYC  jeans, Senso Acacia shoes via Solestruck, Lena Erziak Anthony bag, Maxstudio sunglasses, Zara fedora, random black top.
,
Solestruck, the footwear powerhouse consisting of copious amounts of JC, Senso, United Nude, Report, Sam Edelman and other high street, high impact pieces were awesome enough to send me these rad Senso Acacias. Thanks, you guys! These don't even require me to write down a long monologue on their sheer badass-ery. They're black bootie wedges with a suede heel and leather upper sole. There's a thin silver lining between the two, giving it a semi eerie futuristic effect. Also, random fact: they make your feet look teeny. When they came in the mail, I got a little sad thinking they'd be too small to fit my feet into (US 7.5) but they're perfect. . The architectural heel's a cool 5 inches with a 1 1/2 inch (I think) platform making them super comfortable in addition to being super covetable. You can snag them here or just scroll through other jaw droppingly cool stuff on Solestruck.

Also, Oh My Frock, a fantastic indie fashion store sent me this leopard print, structural jacket (I wore a knotted dull gold necklace by them in my last outfit post). I am OBSESSED with it and keep wearing it every few days. The cut is so incredible and versatile. It goes with skirts (wore it with a high waisted, silk pleated skirt 2 weeks ago), jeans, leggings, shorts. Also, I love that the print is something eye catchy like leopard but it's not the usual garish color (which I love also, make no mistake) but a pale green-y/black combination.

These jeans are from Blank NYC which is an all denim label and these are just one of those dream denims. Y'know the kind that just fir perfectly and don't make your ass look weird. Mega like! I'm coveting a pair of badass leather shorts from Blank next. Check out their website as well, they're in my sidebar too!

A couple of fun giveaways coming up soon, stay tuned ;)

Check out my Teen Vogue mention here.

A week back, the news that Carine Roitfeld, EIC of Vogue Paris (as she called French Vogue) had "resigned" broke out, causing thousands of fashion fiends across the world to lament this obviously great loss to the Conde Nast publication. Since then, a tirade of news pieces, mostly from Racked and The Cut have been released, stating that Carine was quite possibly fired.

Why? She lost Vogue Paris Balenciaga. She made back door deals with upcoming designers (allegedly). She sparked major issues with LVMH on the whole and also her extra consulting habit was getting tedious. Her issues went from being coolly politically incorrect to offensive (exhibit A: her December issue with guest editor Tom Ford - whose dip is another issue, involving a shoot of little kids in full makeup and luxury clothing/lingerie).
I don't really have a hard time believing all this considering she sounds pretty high up in her interviews.

Of course, there is absolutely no denying that she was an incredibly talented designer with a panache for the androgynously sexy. But was she that fantastic an editor? What are your thoughts?

I basically raped Fashion Gone Rogue.

Some press I got in the past week:

Teen Vogue Personal Style Blogger Trend piece (I'm slide # 8)
Look 10 blog feature.
I wore a crop top by Dace and it got featured on their blog here.
Nahhmoda blog feature.

Outfit post soon! Had to miss the Marie Claire Fashion Awards (India) this Friday so still in mourning about that+ the Manish Arora X Shekhar Kapur production on Saturday because a friend from Paris was in town. Bad weekend for fashion events.

Today, I'd like to know whether my readers like to step out of the fashion bubble every once in a while and are interested in world events. So question: what are you guys' thoughts on the Wikileaks phenomenon? Julain Assange: cyber terrorist or democratic whistleblower?

I am veering towards the latter. Put whatever you think in the comments!

PS- I have four packages stuck in customs or wherever else coming via USPS international. I want to kill somebody slowly and painfully. Have you ever had this problem (if you're outside of the US)? How did you fix it? Any help will be really appreciated!

wild hearts can't be broken

Listen to: AVA LUNA. Found them via Nylon, I think? Fucking fantastic and have been abusing the replay button their myspace page for hours.  They're based in Brooklyn, NY and their stuff is post punk, I'd say but I was never great at identifying genres. The female vocals are insanity.  Kind of like a more electro version of  the White Stripes? Except you know, I hate the White Stripes so there's that. What I would give to watch them live. But then, the odds of them showing up in Delhi are as high as it ever snowing here or embracing seasons apart from summer.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic (look at my badass, grime smeared shoes. I went for a party which was outside on wet grass and while I treaded on half the people there's feet, I also successfully clogged these up with mud. Note to self: do not wear 6 inch skinny heels in the mud)

Wearing: Dace Kristen wool crop top, ClubCouture brown pleated mini, ClubCouture glitter black tights, French Connection winter sun wool coat, Forever 21 knit beret, Pelle Moda Kenda suede booties, OH MY FROCK necklace

I love, love, love this Dace crop top. The sleeves are slightly puffy and it's got this random stripe in silk down the middle and it's the definition of effortless cool. And there are infinite possibilities of how to wear this and with what.  Dace is a Canadian label that's all slouchy pants, lightly embroidered sweater dresses and silk cotton tops. Basically, you can spend hours on the website, slowly working your way through your entire wallet.

This ClubCouture skirt is more than a little short and verges on slutty but I wore it with these uber shiny leggings (also from ClubCouture) that involve pretty close knitting so it doesn't appear that I'm showing all that much leg. CC is a really cute site that's brimming with really cute accessories and some rad tops at non panic attack inducing prices. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Also, this necklace is courtesy of OH MY FROCK, lovely people from this cool new store who sent me some badass pieces. I love this is very flashy and just livens up any outfit, sending it off the deep end to the tacky gorgeous pool. Check out their site, they have a ton of really cool structural pieces with impeccable draping.

Living in India, winter is 2 short months of slightly chilly evenings and cool mornings. So at most, you wear layered cardigans and blazers and feel slightly cool for a while but coats are required for about a week before and after New Year's and that's about it. So for this season, I was more than a little excited when French Connection sent over this gorgeous wool coat. I wore it for the express purpose of looking like living in a tropical country actually requires close to a semblance of layering. Yes, I just said that. Don't judge.

Now...most of you, even if you're entirely unaware of Indian fashion, (which I suspect is a large chunk of you) know of the king of Indian kitsch, Manish Arora. Or the butterfly dress. Or his collaboration with MAC.  But he was recently featured in the Swarovski Elements campaign (see here). So I knew he'd been using a lot of their stuff in his past collections but here, they show his creating this dress that you will honestly think is a mirage. Check out the project video:

PPS- I was recently in Grazia India's story on style bloggers.  You can check out scans of the online version here that OZEL webstore posted on their blog and I'll be posting a pdf soon.
